Depends on what tactics and use of secondary weapons in the battlefield

.........as most of the wargame situation is happened as CQB, I personally suggest you to use three points sling instead of 2 points, as 3 points could be converted to use as 2 points as well....use of 3 points or 2 points sling is not likely depended on which type of rifle you use, even M14 could use 3 points slling as well, it might be the tactics which conclude the type of 2/3 point slings you should use.

Most people only use 2 points sling for sniper rifle, as you won't use sniper rifle in CQB

(except the big guy in the movie "Silence Trigger"
