Absolutely no problem. When soldiers carrry their rifles in the battle field, they have to cross rivers and lakes and all kind of terrain. They can sustain rain, snow, and heat. Soaked and dried repeatedly.
Rifle stock is not made from cheap low grade wood, not even the Chinese Mosin-Nagant. Today's new rifle/shotgun stocks made of wood, the factory would soak the wood in water to see the wood pattern. Of course those are made of excellent quality wood. Just want to say, rifle stock can be soaked in water without any problem.
